Comacchio GEO205

 

The Ultimate Geo-Environmental Site Investigation Rig.

The Comacchio GEO205 rotary drilling rigs are capable of carrying out numerous drilling techniques, whilst still being light weight and compact, thus making them very versatile cost effective rigs. The Comacchio rigs are powered by a silenced diesel engine fitted with a spark arrestor and chalwyn valve.

The GEO205 is transported to site via a Land Rover and specialist plant trailer and backed up by a support vehicle carrying all consumables and ancillary drilling equipment. The GEO205 rigs are also capable of drilling under forecourt canopies, standing lower than the canopy standard of 4m. The rigs have a powerful impact hammer mounted to the side of the main drill head, which is used to advance windowless sample barrels through soft substrata to retrieve high quality samples. Upon encountering harder geology the rigs have several solutions to offer including, hollow or solid stem augering, open hole or rotary coring. In compliance with all HSE and client requirements all of our rotary drilling rigs are fully guarded, giving ultimate protection to all drillers and public.

GEO205 Rig Dimensions (when working)

Dynamic Windowless Sampling

Windowless sampling barrels between 86mm and 146mm diameter contain plastic liners to retain soil samples. Liners are removed from sample barrels after drilling. The use of a plastic liner allows for excellent presentation of high quality samples.

In-Situ Geotechnical Testing (all hammers calibrated annually)

Standard Penetration Testing, weight of 63.5kgs is dropped over a calibrated distance of 760mm, the number of blows taken to drive the sampler over a set distance is recorded.

Undisturbed Sampling (U100, UT100, U70)

Undisturbed samples with either thin walled (class 1) or standard undisturbed sample barrels can be taken with the rig.

Hollow & Solid Stem Augering (fully guarded)

The rotary drive heads on our rigs can be set to a low speed high torque setting to allow for both hollow and solid stem auguring in 8″ and 10″ diameters to depths of 15m, in the case of hollow stem auguring we can also advance windowless sampling barrels through them to allow for soil samples to be taken at any stage during drilling.

Rotary Open Hole Drilling (fully guarded)

Down the hole hammer (DTHH), tri-cone rock roller, PCD and drag bits can be used for rotary open hole drilling. DTHH is used with air flush for open hole drilling in rock and hard strata. Tri-cone, PCD and drag bits can be operated with air, air mist or water flush. Open boreholes can be formed to depths in the order of 60m bgl.

Rotary Coring (fully guarded)

Thin wall double tube core barrels incorporating a plastic liner are used to retrieve cores up to 93mm diameter. The rigs can use water or air flush as required. The ability of our rigs to soil sample and rotary core allows for borehole progression in most ground conditions.

Low Headroom & Narrow Access

With rigs differing in size and appearance we can drill in most places, anywhere from slopes to narrow access, forecourt canopies to substations.

Comacchio GEO305

 

Drilling with the Comacchio GEO305 Rotary/Percussive Drilling Rig.

Medium in size, large in power and performance, the Comacchio GEO305 is as capable conducting SPT’s as it is drilling 100m water wells!

The Comacchio GEO305 rig, weighing in at 4.50t is transported to site by ADP Group’s own 26t beavertail truck and supported by an Iveco 7ton van containing all the drilling equipment and site specific materials.

With the capability of hollow stem auguring and dynamic sampling to 25m, rotary coring and open hole drilling to depths of up to 120m and numerous geotechnical and environmental tests available, the Comacchio GEO305 is the answer to all your problems.

The Comacchio’s “slide-o-matic” head allows the transition between the high torque, high speed rotary head and the high power hydraulic impact hammer in a matter of seconds – meaning borehole progression, sampling and tests in any geology!

In compliance with all HSE and client requirements all of our rotary drilling rigs are fully guarded, giving ultimate protection to all drillers and public.

Tri-cone, PCD and drag bits can be operated with air, air mist or water flush. Open boreholes can be formed to depths in the order of 120m making the GEO305 the ideal rig for GSHP and water boreholes where access is a problem.

Rotary Coring (Fully guarded)

Comacchio MC405

 

The Comacchio MC405 High Torque Rotary/Percussive Drilling Rig.

The MC405 is a very compact, yet very powerful and hugely capable rotary rig, equally as capable of both SI work or open hole drilling to depths in the order of 150m bgl.

The MC405 rotary drilling rig is transported to site with our in house 26t beavertail plant truck, this truck also carries all in hole equipment as well as auxiliary equipment such as compressors and mud recycling equipment – allowing us to keep our overheads low and pass the savings on to you, the client. The rig is supported by an Iveco 7ton van.

With a rotary head capable of low speed, high torque; as well as high speed with less torque, the Comacchio MC405 is a formidable force capable of progressing boreholes in any geology to depths in excess of 150m using either DTH Hammer, rock roller, drag or PCD bits.. or to diameters of 300mm using hollow and solid stem augers.

Other systems include Symmetrix casing and wireline coring.

Flushing mediums include mud/water recirculation via the on board 200l/min mud pump, or air flush via an auxiliary compressor.

In-Situ Geotechnical Testing (all hammers calibrated annually)

Standard Penetration Testing, weight of 63.5kgs is dropped over a calibrated distance of 760mm, the number of blows taken to drive the sampler over a set distance is recorded.

Undisturbed Sampling (U100, UT100, U70)

Symmetrix Over Burden Casing System (Fully guarded)

Symmetrix casing systems can be utilised where overburden or unconsolidated sands/gravels can become a problem, the Symmetrix casing system is available in an OD of 168mm, providing an ID of 132mm through the ring bit.

Comacchio GEO602

 

The Comacchio GEO602 High Torque Rotary/Percussive Drilling Rig.

The GEO602 is a compact, yet very powerful and hugely capable rotary rig capable of forming geotechnical, rotary cored or rotary open boreholes to depths in excess of 250m.

The GEO602 rotary drilling rig is transported to site with our in-house 26t beavertail plant truck, this truck also carries all in-hole equipment as well as auxiliary equipment such as compressors and mud recycling equipment.

The rig is supported by an Iveco 7t van and operates many systems, the capabilities of which are outlined below.

The rig can provide continuous cored sample recovery via dynamic sampling and rotary coring either conventionally with T6-116 or T6-146, or with wire-line in the form of Geobor-S. The latter of which allows boreholes to be cored to greater depths, in very efficient timeframes.

It can also efficiently drill rotary open holes with the use of PCD and tri-cone NC bits. All systems are supported by either the on-board clean water mist pump, or the triplex 300L/min mud pump.

With a rotary head capable of high speed, low torque (up to 980rpm!) as well as high torque with low speed the Comacchio GEO602 is also a highly capable hollow stem auger rig.

Other systems include Symmetrix casing and wireline coring.

Flushing mediums include mud/water re-circulation via the on board 300l/min mud pump, or air flush via an auxiliary compressor.

The MP170-2SC is an industry leading mud cleaning system designed to clean drilling mud (preserving the life of drill string, pumps and rig systems) and leave cuttings as a dry matter ready for easy disposal off site or stock piling onsite.

Our MP170-2SC is included within our quotation for Geothermal/GSHP borehole drilling and is available as a cost item on other drilling sites.

We are one of the few UK drilling contractors to invest in the ability to deliver all of our own rotary drilling rigs, no matter what size or weight, to any site in the UK or Europe with our own fleet of HGVs. This means we arrive onsite exactly when required and are not left standing waiting for unreliable hauliers.

We feel this gives us the flexibility required in the modern world, in order to put us one step ahead of the competition.

ADP Group’s transport team have at their disposal a fleet of tri-axle plant trailers, 7ton panel vans, and a 26ton Iveco Stralis c/w a E6 310hp powerplant, rear steer axle, cheese wedge plant body, edge protection fall arrest and a 10ton winch.
